What is Group Discussion?
"Group" is a collection of individuals who have regular contact and frequent interaction and who work together to achieve a common set of goals. "Discussion" is the process whereby two or more people exchange information or ideas in a face-to-face situation to achieve a goal. The goal, or end product, maybe increased knowledge, agreement leading to action, disagreement leading to competition or resolution or perhaps only a clearing of the air or a continuation of the status-quo.
In Other word Gd(Group Discussion) Is the only problem In People and most of MNCs used To take a Group discussion Round to check Candidate's Communication Skills and Interpersonal Skills. In this methodology, the group of candidates is given a topic or a situation, typically given some time to think about the same, and then asked to discuss it among themselves for a specific duration (which may vary from one organization to another).
Why is a "GD" conducted?
Organizations conduct GDs to find out whether you possess the critical qualities/skills to contribute effectively to the goal accomplishment process. Group Discussions are held because business management is essentially a group activity and working with groups is the most important parameter of being successful as a manager. Apart from that, the candidates are evaluated on the basis of their communication skills, knowledge, leadership skills, listening skills, conceptualizing ability, etc Group discussion is used as a first criteria for screening the candidates for interviews and in different exams.
Strategy to Face GD (According to me)
1. Try to Start a topic (Always think of starting first of atleast 3-5 minutes). After being given a Topic by Invigilator you will be alloted 2 minutes to think related/relevant of the topic.
2. If not able to start then its ok not a big deal let other start and let them to conversation among each other but dont just give up here Try to catch some Good points what others cant able to disclose and then start speaking for atleast 3-5 minutes.
we can name you as Middler If you start something In Middle .
3. If not able to start or not able to catch a words and content from the topic then just listen to them and there point of interactions and then try to end a thing using a Short/Brief Conclusion In this you need to cover each of every aspect of the conversation and try to give Your ideas and thoughts on the topic what it's mean Just speak something According to you.
Strategy In Short ;-
1. Start it( Be a Starter) Choose one side of the content.
2. Say Something In Middle (Be a Middler)
3. End it by Giving Your Thoughts and Ideas In the form of Conclusion
